The Selandia international collaboration has mainly been within the sectors of Agriculture, Environmental Technology, Organisation Management, Electro-Mechanics, and Metal Working, including also cross-cutting issues such as Economics and Marketing, Information and Communication Technology, Pedagogy and Training-the-trainers.

Project financing has been obtained from various national or international donors such as EU, Danida or Danish Ministries, SIDA, the World Bank, UNDP/UNOPS, EC, AsDB and Nordic Development Bank. Occasionally, projects have been fully funded by private companies or recipient governments.

The Selandia international expertise and experience mainly falls within the following categories:

  • Training needs assessment: Detailing the various assignments and qualification requirements within a certain enterprise, production process or economic sector, in particular with novel cross-cutting issues such as environmental awareness and management.
  • Tailor-made courses: The planning, organising and implementation of specific tailor-made training courses on various technical, management, or pedagogic topics, be it in the recipient country or as fellowship courses in Denmark. Emphasis is placed on a problem-oriented approach and action learning, i.e. providing hands-on experience whenever applicable. Courses often include a training-the-trainers perspective so as to facilitate efficient dissemination.
  • Education building: The joint elaboration of novel education lines or subjects with recipient governments and educational institutions. Programmes would often include the development of curriculum and teaching material as well as outlining teachers training needs and initiating the training of trainers.
  • Institutional capacity building: Analysing current potentials and short-comings with one specific organisation, followed by the carefully structured upgrading of staff, equipment and work procedures.
  • Project management: Selandia staff members have been involved in all phases of the project implementation cycle including project identification, fact-finding, planning, fundraising, appraisal, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, as an integral part of carrying the project responsibility or as separate tasks with investigative missions.
  • Development of multimedia programmes for learning and e-learning

Training provided by Selandia may take place in the recipient country, at Selandia or a combination. Selandia runs a Boarding House of high standard, located in the vicinity of the College and city centre, and capable of providing full board if so wished. Lodging is in self-contained, high standard single- or double-rooms, equipped with telephone extension and a TV set with access to international channels.
